2014 Results announced

The 2014 Northumbria in Bloom Major and Special Award results were announced at a ceremony in The Brandling Suite, High Gosforth Park on Tuesday 16th September.  The results are on the Results page and there’s a Press release here.

Britain in Bloom Successes

Northumbria in Bloom has had one of its most successful years with two Silver Gilt Medals, four Gold, of which two were category winners, and seven Discretionary Awards.

Eston (Urban Community) – Silver Gilt

Moorsholm (Village) – Silver Gilt

Morpeth (Town) – Gold and Category Winner

Sedgefield (Small Town) – Gold

Stanghow (Champion of Champions) – Gold

Stockton on Tees (City) – Gold and Joint Category Winner

The Discretionary Award Winners were:

Commercial award – Sanderson Arcade and Bus Station, Morpeth

Young Peoples’ Award  – Morpeth

Pride of Place Award – Stockton on Tees

Heritage Award – Eston

Community Award  – Stanghow

Community Champion Award – June and Arthur Murray, Stanghow

Outstanding Contribution Award – Patsy Clark

2013 Presentation Ceremony

The certificates and trophies for Major Awards and Special  Awards were presented at the ceremony in the Stadium of Light in Sunderland on 17th September.  The full results are on the Results page.  There’s a Press Release here.

May Woolley 1920 – 2014

We are very sad to report that May Woolley, former Vice Chairman of Northumbria in Bloom, died on the 9th August 2013.

She was a founder member and one of the founder judges.  Her enthusiasm and dedication inspired everyone who knew her.

Northumbria in Bloom 2013 launched

The 2013 Northumbria in Bloom campaign has been launched.  The 2012 campaign was very successful with 83 communities in the main competition, 56 schools in Growing Together and 127 local volunteer groups in RHS It’s Your Neighbourhood entered from across the Region.
