All of the communities who enter for Northumbria in Bloom Major Awards are also encouraged to make entries from within their area for Special Awards. Proposed entries should be discussed with the judges at the Spring visit.
Entrants are not required to provide photographs. Judges will arrange for photos to be taken. If entrants have particular images they wish the judges to see, they should let them know when the judging is carried out.
The number of Special Award entries must be agreed between the entrant and the judges prior to summer judging.
Each entry (except for the two classes for Outstanding Individual Contribution) will now be assessed on three criteria, relating to the characteristics of that entry – Private Garden, Public Park etc.
Additional judging time is allowed of up to 15 minutes for each Special Award entry.
An entry cannot be both a Special Award and an It’s Your Neighbourhood.
